Our Exciting Partnership Launch Announcement!

EmployAbility announces new partnership with icare for TBI participants

It’s now Brain Injury Awareness Week in Australia (August 19-25) with the theme, ‘What’s your connection?’ and we have some exciting news to share.

We are pleased to announce that Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA) has received funding from icare to develop a program to test a new approach for employment and vocational opportunities for individuals living with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). We are thrilled to have formed this partnership and for the opportunity to expand our EmployAbility Program.

“We have been achieving very positive outcomes with our EmployAbility program. SCIA also has services that support people living with TBI” states Head of EmployAbility Jemma Smyth, “so we are very excited to expand our EmployAbility program and to hire specialist staff to work alongside dedicated employment coaches who have lived experience of disability to support people with TBI to return to the workforce.”

SCIA CEO Dianne Lucas notes “This is a wonderful step forward for SCIA. We’re proud to partner with icare in this initiative to help individuals with TBI to obtain meaningful employment. This collaboration reflects our commitment to inclusion and empowerment, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive in their careers. Together, we’re not just opening doors, we’re building pathways to a brighter, more inclusive future.”

EmployAbility will be working alongside a progress group of TBI specialists around Australia to develop the new employment program, with the aim to start accepting candidates in early 2025.

Every member of Team EmployAbility is delighted at this brand-new chapter.
