To advance employment rights, choices and entitlements of people living with spinal cord injury and TBI.

  • Our Commitment

To deliver flexible services that employ and connect people with a physical disability and /or TBI conditions.

Social Impact and Partners

EmployAbility has crafted several strategic partnerships with both organisations and other NFP to help support our mission. As a for purpose organisation SCIA have a social responsibility, not only to the members we serve, but to the community in which we all live.

For individuals to flourish they need to live in communities that are doing the same.

  • Our History

    Our History

When we first opened the EmployAbility doors in 2018, we were a Disability Employment Service (DES) working alongside the Australian Government. To receive our services, you were required to be collecting a payment from Centrelink.
Time and time again we saw this system fail and knew we had so much more to offer. Research had taught us that the majority of PWD neither receive government pensions nor NDIS, yet this untapped work force was crying out for jobs.

Many people with a physical disability want to work, they are highly skilled and qualified, and they can strengthen the diversity and culture of your team.

In 2022, the EmployAbility you know today, as an independent organisation, began.  We are so proud of the progress we have made and the lives we have helped change. Each year our team grows bigger, and our results grow larger. We cannot wait to work with you and help you become the change you want to see in your world.

    Background

Founded almost 60 years ago, our parent company, Spinal Cord Injuries Australia is an all-purpose organisation, working for people living with Spinal Cord injuries (SCI) and other neuro conditions. People with disability (PWD) make up over 35% of our staff and the majority of our board.

We are a peak body for people with spinal cord injuries and other neurological conditions and a Disabled Peoples Organisation. A Disabled Peoples Organisation (DPO) is internationally recognised as an organisation where more than 51% of its board and membership is made up of people with a disability.

SCIA continues to passionately support thousands of PWD nationally each year, in fact, the fees associated with our service allow us to sustain our programs.

By working with us, you are literally changing people's lives. It doesn’t get much better than that.
