About Uncle Gerry

Uncle Gerry Moore, OAM is a senior Aboriginal Elder from Wreck Bay in the Jervis Bay Territory. He has links to the Jerrinja, Wodi Wodi, Dharawal and Wandi Wandandian peoples.

He has over 40 years’ experience as a senior administrator in Aboriginal Affairs, including as a former ATSIC Commissioner, the CEO of the NSW Aboriginal Legal Service, and the CEO of SNAICC (the peak national body representing the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families).

He currently sits on a range of boards including as a Round Table Member of the National Australian Bureau of Statistics, and is a Director of the national arts institution, the Bundanon Trust.

In January 2020, Uncle Gerry was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to the Indigenous community.
