Creating empathy-led and inclusive workplaces.

Recently, Alliance released their latest research findings on the state of workplace mental health in Australia, exploring diverse experiences of people at work, focusing on gender, generational and cultural diversity, and people living with a disability.
The 3 key findings we found of interest were:
- 33% of surveyed employees say their ideal workforce is described as a place where there are improved pathways for people with physical disabilities to hold leadership positions.
- A quarter of managers surveyed acknowledged there’s an empathy gap in their workplace, struggling with a lack of compassion or a bias for employees living with a disability.
- Nearly half of managers (45%) acknowledge they may have an unconscious bias towards their team, with 36% of employees with a disability believing their manager treats them differently because their characteristics
Research such as this is crucial in finding the ways we can help the Australian workforce to improve.
