Physical Disability Awareness Day

Physical Disability Awareness Day

Thanks to a wonderful initiative by Physical Disability Australia, we are celebrating “Physical Disability Awareness Day” today, Monday 3 February 2025, It’s a topic that is close to our hearts at EmployAbility. This is a day that provides us with another fantastic opportunity for everyone to unite in support of Australia’s physical disability community.

At EmployAbility, we take pride in bringing our lived experience to the table. We offer expert insights and customised training workshops that help create more inclusive and accessible workplaces. Our team understands the importance of equal opportunities for all, first-hand. We are dedicated to breaking down barriers in the employment sector.

We encourage you to learn one new fact and share it with your colleagues today.

Here are four interesting facts to get you started:

Unemployment Rates: Australians with physical disabilities face significantly higher unemployment rates than those without a disability – almost twice as high. (Source: Australian Bureau of Statistics)

Workplace Accommodations: Most people with disabilities report that simple workplace accommodations, such as flexible hours, ergonomic tools, or remote work options, can make a significant difference.

Contribution to the Economy: People with disabilities contribute over $43 billion to the Australian economy each year. Let’s unlock their potential even further!

Diversity Drives Innovation: Companies with diverse teams, including those with disabilities, experience higher levels of innovation and creativity in problem-solving. Diversity isn’t just fair—it’s beneficial for business!

Let’s continue to make strides towards a more inclusive Australia where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
