JOB DESCRIPTION
Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA) is a member based national For Purpose organisation promoting independence for people with a spinal cord injury and other neurological and physical disabilities. We provide NDIS and other services to support and assist our clients to get ‘back on track’ and achieve their goals. Working together with our customers, our aim is to eliminate the barriers that restrict social inclusion for people with a spinal cord injury and other physical disability, developing a society which is accessible in every way.
SCIA Head Office is based in Sydney with offices in regional NSW, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide and Perth. SCIA was founded by people with Spinal Cord Injuries. At present people with a disability make up over 30% of our staff, and a majority of our Board. We pride ourselves these statistics. This role offers an exciting opportunity for people with a disability to draw on their lived experience in the workplace.
As a NDIS provider, we are committed to the ongoing improvement of our processes and procedures to ensure that our service delivery complies with the National Practice Principles and NDIS Safeguards commission.
SCIA is contracted by Transport for NSW to operate the call booking centre for Wheelchair Accessible Taxis and a road traffic data mapping service, and we are now recruiting for the next new member of our data mapping team.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
This job is based in Little Bay, Sydney and is full-time (5 days a week). This is an entry level position.
Reporting to the Geo and Data Manager and Team Leaders, the Data and Mapping Officer is primarily responsible for accurately reading and interpreting written reports, maps and entering the information into a database
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES FOR THE ROLE ARE;
- The ability to accurately read, understand and interpret reports and maps written in English and accurately enter the information into a database and consistently meet specified deadlines
- Willingness to perform other duties as assigned by the Geo and Data Manager and Team Leaders.
- The ability to develop and maintain positive relations with SCIA Managers and all other internal staff members.
- Accountable for ensuring appropriate Health and Safety conduct and compliance with relevant Federal and State WH&S legislative requirements and the organisation’s Workplace Health and Safety Policy and Procedures.
TO BE A SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL HAVE;
- Have lived experience of physical disability
- Experience in similar data entry and administrative role
- Strong understanding of the NSW road rules
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products such as MS Words, Excel and Teams
- Be able to attend work at SCIA’s Little Bay office
- Proven ability to work positively with people to reach their individual goals
- All SCIA staff must obtain and maintain a clear working with vulnerable people check
PERSONAL QUALITIES/CRITICAL COMPETENCIES;
- Ability to accurately read and interpret written reports
- Ability to understand and identify specific locations on maps including street directories
- Strong administrative skills and computer literacy
- Sound written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work individually or as part of a team
